Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

Watercolor inspired by the story of Pedro Huizar carving the Rose Window at Mission San Jose, (San Antonio, in Spanish territory, now Texas) for his fiancee, Rosa. Rosa was on her way to Texas coming from Spain and was, unfortunately, shipwrecked. Pedro mourned her loss and carved the famous window in her memory. Later, he got married, lived a long life and had a large family. I met one of the descendants of Pedro Huizar in San Antonio at West Elm, where I was selling my art. That was so exciting!
Dutch born, Vera Smith grew up in the Netherlands and France. As drawing was her favorite means of expression, she had art lessons starting at a young age from Elly Kuipers in Holland and Germain Bonel in France. In the US, she took classes from Edward Povey and Jim McDonald. She studied Russian in Europe. Her marriage brought her to the US, where she home schooled her children. In the States, Vera thoroughly enjoys Art Museums, the National and State Parks and Native American arts and crafts. What she loves about San Antonio, TX are the diverse cultural communities, the missions and other historic buildings. She paints in oils and watercolors mostly.
